After investing more than EUR 200,000, the book publishing and variable-information printing company SIA “Drukātava” has modernised and extended the range of its equipment, offering its customers a range of book finishing technologies for even more exclusive and brighter publications, and increase the production amounts in the traditional – printing of books upon request – business segment.
“With the purchase of a modern book binding machine, and the hardback production line our goal is to make impressive volumes appreciated by each and every booklover. Over the last decades, costs of exclusive books published in Latvia were extremely high due to the low circulation figures. However, if such publications are printed by digital technologies, we can make several tens or even only one copy of a book for a reasonable price, and you will be not ashamed to present the book as a gift to those who can appreciate a truly qualitative printing job,” said Valdis Jirgens, member of the board of SIA “Drukātava”.
Along with the installation of the new equipment, SIA “Drukātava” will continue its traditional business niche – printing qualitative books upon request. To develop the segment, the company has bought yet another printer OCE VarioPrint 6160 Ultra+ that allows increasing the production volumes and meet the growing demand for this type of service from the Scandinavian customers. “We can be pretty sure that as for digital printing of books we are ahead of Scandinavia both in terms of quality and speed in the delivery of orders. More and more customers appreciate the fact we can print extra books any time for the same price for a unit, which makes us able to meet the sales amounts of each and every publication. Thus the publishers avoid the risk of not selling all the printed copies of a book or the circulation being too small to meet the demand,” Mr. Jirgens pointed out the advantages of digital technologies.
