In January, SIA “Drukātva” received a challenging task from a client — to make B5 format books with 1800 pages using our new machinery; 85 copies of the edition would be produced. The staff at SIA “Drukātva” managed to complete the project successfully and the final product was delivered to the client after a few weeks.
When preparing such editions using the traditional printing technologies with such parameters, the cost could be several times greater; however, digital solutions allow us to cut the costs significantly — the actual cost of making one book stays the same no matter if one, ten or fifty books are printed. Moreover, only a trained specialist can distinguish books made using traditional and digital printing technologies. It is no secret that binding such thick books is a challenge for any manufacturer, especially if a high quality result is desired.
With the handling of this order SIA “Drukātava” has proved that it can prepare orders of any complexity quickly, yet keep high quality standards. We can handle everything from brochures with a couple of pages, to the larger hardcover books. We are certain this is the first digitally printed hardcover book of this kind in Latvia. This could very well be the thickest book printed and bound in Latvia during recent decades.
